You can apply any character, but some characters definitely won’t be accepted.
We will not be accepting any original characters, no matter how well thought-out. Try someone from mythology if you’re not comfortable borrowing a copyrighted character.
Characters like God or Lucifer are too overpowering. If they are required for a particular plot, they can always be brought in as NPCs.
Sister Mary will remain strictly an NPC. We just can’t afford to lose her or have her temporarily unavailable as she’s running the hotel. Guests and staff can come and go, but someone just has to be there.
Characters that absolutely don’t fit the scenario. No Transformers, no Mickey Mouse and no cavemen. How would we explain their presence or integrate them with the rest of the cast? (But feel free to try and convince us.)
2.) Choose a Character. If you are considering playing an angel, take the guided tour through heaven (http://community.livejournal.com/mad_prophecies/39523.html) first. If you are considering a demon, the guided tour through Hell (http://community.livejournal.com/mad_prophecies/459.html) is for you. The powers and limits of other characters can be found here (http://community.livejournal.com/mad_prophecies/71770.html). (The gods currently in there are all lesser/weaker ones, so you can make yours stronger than that. Just don't overdo it, overpowered characters are a lot less fun.)
3.) Apply. Apply at (http://community.livejournal.com/mad_prophecies/profile)mad_prophecies (http://community.livejournal.com/mad_prophecies/) using the application form.
4.) Wait for Approval. This may take a week or two while we barrage you with questions on your character.
5.) Make an LJ account for your character.
6.) Make/Find a userpic to represent your character.
7.) Join the Communities. Have your character join (http://community.livejournal.com/lt_safe_house/profile)lt_safe_house (http://community.livejournal.com/lt_safe_house/), (http://community.livejournal.com/safe_house_cast/profile)safe_house_cast (http://community.livejournal.com/safe_house_cast/), and (http://community.livejournal.com/mad_prophecies/profile)mad_prophecies (http://community.livejournal.com/mad_prophecies/) as a member.
8.) Make your contact post at (http://community.livejournal.com/safe_house_cast/profile)safe_house_cast (http://community.livejournal.com/safe_house_cast/) (These will become visible once your character is confirmed as a member there.)
Note: You will not be cleared for posting in LTSH before steps 1 through 8 are completed!
9.) Arrive! Make a first post in (http://community.livejournal.com/lt_safe_house/profile)lt_safe_house (http://community.livejournal.com/lt_safe_house/) to let your character arrive.
Post A post is one unit written ("posted") by a player - either a message in the community or a reply to it.
Thread A thread is a scene in the game. It starts witha message posted by a player and is then continued as a direct line of replies that write out the scene. Splitting a thread into sub-threads, i.e. having several separate conversations in the same thread, should be avoided where possible. Where it cannot be avoided, please see the Rules for instructions.
After completing the application process, make a post at (http://community.livejournal.com/lt_safe_house/profile)lt_safe_house (http://community.livejournal.com/lt_safe_house/) and let your character do something. If you don’t have any other ideas already, arriving in Lower Tadfield might be a good start. A public thread is a way to invite any random character to come and meet yours. If you want someone specific contact their player and ask.
Don’t be discouraged if your thread doesn’t attract another character to play with right away. If it remains unanswered for too long one of the mods will take up the slack, but we like to give other not so frequently seen characters the chance to play first.
To avoid making the messages you post all that long and unwieldily, we hide the bulk of the message behind an lj-cut. That means, type < lj-cut > (without the spaces), then type your text. If you have only one LJ-cut in your message, you don't even need to close it again.

Re: Playing the Game
Sure, as far as LJ permits.
